| About this service |
Vacancies - www.vacancies.ac.uk - is a free service provided by Eduserv for the education community. There is no cost to the user and it is free to employers wishing to advertise their vacancies. NISS was a JISC funded service set up in 1988 to make access to networked information available to the UK academic community. Eduserv is a not-for-profit company (and registered charity) which contains the department formerly known as NISS.
Most of the vacancies advertised on the Vacancies service are within the UK academic sector. Jobs are arranged under subject headings based on the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) subject categories plus extra ones to include university services, support and administration, research posts and short-term contracts.

Each vacancy is listed with brief summary details for quick reference and with a link to a fuller description. Each job entry in the summary list includes the job title, location of job, salary and closing date for application. To find out more about each job the user should select the job title to see a fuller description including how to apply for that job. A job may appear in more than one subject area if appropriate. For users who browse the pages regularly the 'latest additions' list which covers each week's new jobs is an easy way of keeping up to date with recent advertisements.
